The Origins of Mariachi Music Under the Stars, a multimedia presentation by Gregorio Luke, will be held on Thursday September 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Birch Park in Santa Ana.
Gregorio Luke is an expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture. Mr. Luke has presented over 1,000 lectures in museums and universities throughout Mexico, Europe and the United States in institutions such as the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institution, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, and Universities such as Harvard, Columbia, UNAM and Georgetown, among others.
Accompanied by a live Mariachi Band “Mariachi Imperial” , who will bring the music of collective cultural dances, fiestas, religious and secular ceremonies to this presentation. The lecture will be illustrated with slides and videos, showing the origins of Mariachi Music.
